NYAN CAT

Nyan Cat is the name of a YouTube video uploaded in April 2011, which became an Internet meme. The video merged a Japanese pop song with an animated cartoon cat with the body of a Pop-Tart, flying through space, and leaving a rainbow trail behind it. The video ranked at number 5 on the list of most viewed YouTube videos in 2011.

THE HUNT IS ON!: ANOTHER COPY HAS BEEN FOUND AT THE MAHWAH LIBRARY!...

Noah S. writes:

Hi Denise, I just finished reading "Legend." I thought it was a good, fun, and quick read, and at some points I couldn't put the book down even at 1:30 A.M. I found the book next to "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," and have hidden the book next to an old copy of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" in the library.

Title: "The Hunger Games"
Author: Suzanne Collins

Review: Set inside a totalitarian-ruled country called Panem on the once-known continent of North America are twelve districts run by the Capitol. As punishment for an uprising of the obliterated thirteenth district, the annual “The Hunger Games” take place, involving the reaping of twenty-four tributes. One boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts are placed into an arena and forced to fight to the death, much to the Capitol’s entertainment. When Primrose Everdeen, younger sister of main character Katniss, is chosen as a tribute, Katniss immediately volunteers and it sent to the Capitol with Peeta Mellark, the male tribute from District 12. Katniss and Peeta leave a lasting impression on all of Panem as “star-crossed lovers” and provide much entertainment as the people watch the two in the arena. While in the Hunger Games, Katniss comes to terms with the true horror of the government of Panem and is determined to set it straight. This suspenseful book was hard to put down. "The Hunger Games" is a must-read.

Title: "Catching Fire"
Author: Suzanne Collins

Review: DON’T READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVEN’T READ "THE HUNGER GAMES" – SPOILER ALERT! "Catching Fire" by Suzanne Collins truly lives up to the monumental first book as a sequel. Not many authors can make an equally amazing sequel, but Suzanne Collins has done it. After winning the Hunger Games as a first-ever pair, Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen continue the act as star-crossed lovers, though Katniss is only doing it so Haymitch Abernathy, her mentor, will be pleased. After almost defying the Capitol in the Hunger Games by nearly killing themselves, the cruel President Snow is afraid of uprisings and rebellions. He made Katniss promise to continue the act of love with Peeta to satisfy Panem. However, the uprisings happen nevertheless. Gale, Katniss’s best friend, declares his love for Katniss, who is caught between the faithful Gale and the caring Peeta. "Catching Fire" is a gripping story that leads up to the fantastic final book of "The Hunger Games" series.

Title: "Mockingjay"

Author: Suzanne Collins

Review: DON’T READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVEN’T READ "THE HUNGER GAMES" & "CATCHING FIRE": SPOILER ALERT! After District 12 is obliterated, Katniss Everdeen escapes to the believed-to-be-gone District 13. There, she joins forces with strong soldiers. They prepare a mission: take down the Capitol. Because District 13 is believed to be non-existent, underground homes and refuges are built. Gale supports Katniss and also trains to be a soldier. Prim and Katniss’s mother work as nurses and doctors, healing patients in makeshift hospitals. But when Peeta is captured by the Capitol and forced to remember things that never happened, most involving a murderous Katniss, things get out of hand. Their number one mission is to rescue Peeta, who believes that he must kill Katniss. When they stage an operation to assassinate President Snow, disaster strikes. Katniss loses someone very important to her. This action-packed finale of "The Hunger Games" series is an awesome way to close out the story of Katniss, Gale, Peeta, and the country of Panem, torn apart and broken by the rule of the Capitol.

Title: +
Author: Ed Sheeran

Review: Once a half-deaf, small little ginger-haired schoolboy, Ed Sheeran of West Yorkshire really breaks out in his new album +. With a soulful voice and a genre of indie rock, Ed has the power to make every song worth listening to. My favorites include “The A Team”, “Small Bump”, “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You”, “Kiss Me”, and “Give Me Love." His style ranges from slow and soft for “Give Me Love” to fast rap with “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You." I have never heard an artist quite like Ed Sheeran. He is friends with the very popular boy band One Direction (And I'm the biggest Directioner ever, by the way) and helped co-write the song "Moments." You’ll rarely see the singer in anything other than jeans and hoodies, and his music reflects that he’s still just a guy from England singing for fun. His music is much worth the listen. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I did, and still do. Ed Sheeran has that new sound that our music needs.

Title: "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs"

Review: The movie "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" was hilarious and worth the watch. Though the title suggests a kids' movie, I enjoyed it immensely. The movie centers around Flint Lockwood, an aspiring scientist and inventor. When he accidentally launches his turn-water-into-food maker (The FLDSMDFR) into the sky and it starts raining food, the sardine-stricken island of swallow falls immediately becomes chew-and-swallow. The island loves the food rain and Flint is suddenly overwhelmed with requests. With his counterpart Steve the monkey and his new friend Sam Sparks, who broadcasts the news from Chew and Swallow, Flint becomes an instant celebrity. Blinded by his fame, he ignores the warnings of Sam Sparks that the FLDSMDFR is becoming overwhelmed and the food over-mutates. A food storm threatens to take over the world, and it’s up to Flint, Steve, Sam, her cameraman Manny, and the crazy Baby Brent (not a baby) to save the world from spaghetti tornados and salt and pepper wind. This hilarious film was definitely worth the watch and gives my entire family a laugh each time we watch it.

Title: "Up All Night
Artist: One Direction

Review: "Up All Night," One Direction’s first album, is an amazing listen. It involves up-beat songs like "One Thing" and "Up All Night," to slower songs like "More Than This" and "I Wish." It includes their break-out song "What Makes You Beautiful," which has been topping the charts since it’s American release. Just four British boys (Liam Payne, Louis (pronounced Loui-e not Loui-s:) Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles) and one Irish one (Niall Horan, my favorite), they were put together by Simon Cowell on the British version of the X Factor and have been singing as a group ever since. Though they only came in 3rd place on the X Factor, they were signed by Simon immediately. After making it big-time in Europe, they came to America to open for the Nickelodeon band Big Time Rush and eventually headlined their own tour, which sold out in four minutes. "Up All Night" is a great album to listen to. Each song is great. This first album of the five boys of One Direction certainly won’t be the last, and I really encourage you to listen. Their music is great and we should expect even more awesome music in the future!

What other books, music, or movies did this one remind you of: Anyone who likes "Big Time Rush," the Jonas Brothers, or any other boy band would enjoy this music

Title: "Little Women"
Author: Louisa May Alcott

Review: "Little Women" is a book about four young sisters named Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy, and their beloved parents. The family is poor, but happy, and the five women of the house manage everything while the man of the house is called off for duty. When he becomes injured, his wife tends to him while the girls stay at home under the protection of their elderly neighbor, Mr. Lawrence. Meg is the oldest child and is very pretty. Beth is tranquil, sweet-tempered and is the peacemaker. Jo is a tom-boyish, crazy, and adventurous girl who thinks she will never learn to be proper. Amy is the youngest, most well-behaved and lady-like of them all. She wants to enjoy the lifestyle of the rich when she grows up. Mrs. March, the mother, is very wise and simple, who has a temper which she learns to control with the help of her husband. My favorite character is Jo because she is very out-going and funny. Little Women is a favorite of mine and is a well-known classic that many teens love to read.

Title: "Rose in Bloom"
Author: Louisa May Alcott

Review: "Rose in Bloom" is the sequel to "Eight Cousins," a novel about a young orphan named Rose Campbell who is sent to live with her six aunts and eight boy cousins. Uncle Alec who is a doctor is her guardian and a good friend to her. The sequel continues to follow Rose's life as she returns from a trip around the world with Uncle Alec and her former maid and friend, Phebe. She visits her six aunts and eight male cousins who still respect and show affection for their beloved cousin. Two years have passed since she has seen them and she is no longer the fun girl that they grew up; instead she is a beautiful, wealthy, and young lady who has caught the attention of many young men and new friends. At home, a feast is held in the trio's honor. That's when Rose is greeted by four of her male cousins: Archie, Prince, Mac, and Jamie. Archie soon falls in love with Phebe and Prince flirts with Rose because he believes he should always get what he wants, has his heart set on Rose, and also her fortune. However, Rose wants to be an independent, smart, strong-minded young woman and will only marry for someone she loves. I was disappointed once I finished the book as it was not as good as the previous book, "Eight Cousins."

Title: "Little Men"
Author: Louisa May Alcott

Review: "Little Men" is the sequel to "Little Women" and continues to tell the story of the three March sisters (Beth is one of the sisters but she dies in the first book). Most of the story follows Jo March, now Jo Bhaer who is running a boys school at Plumfield, an estate she inherited from Aunt March. She has two sons, Teddy and Rob and twelve orphans who reside the school so far. Soon a young shy boy, Nat Blake arrives to Plumfield who used to play the violin to make an earning. Mrs. Bhaer has made the school into a safe and fun environment for boys who will be cultivated into honorable, kind, and trustworthy young men. Every lad is given their own garden in which they will raise whatever types of vegetables they want and are most of them like to sell them to Mr. and Mrs. Bhaer for a little pocket money. In addition to that the boys can raise pets and pillow fights take place on Saturday. The Bhaers do their best to teach the kids everything from manners to arithmetic and treat the boys like individuals. I liked this book better than the first one because most of the story is about my favorite character, Jo Bhaer.

Title: "Westmark"
Author: Lloyd Alexander

Review: Theo is a young orphan who is apprenticed to a printer, Anton, in the town of Dorning. One evening he agrees to print pamphlets for a showman happily thinking about the money they will receive. But unfortunately the press is trashed, Anton is killed, and Theo must flee for his life because he is accused of being a fugitive by the Chief Minister. He is accompanied by the showman, Count Las Bombas and his servant. Then they find a beggar named Mickle who has a strong will, is clever, but has a strange mysterious past. The four of them make a great team as they perform astounding shows to shock the audiences and earn some money. In my opinion, the book was a great story of monarchy, rebellions, betrayal, and some romance in the mix. If you enjoy this book then I recommend reading the second and third book in the Westmark trilogy.

Review: "The Kestrel" is the sequel to "Westmark" and continues the story of Theo, Mickle, Musket, and Count Las Bombas as each main character parts to a different road that in the end leads to one path. Theo has decided to travel the country to learn more about his future country because he is prince consort. He finds poverty, hungry, rebellions, and riots. But no expects for a war that changes innocent farmers into cold-blooded murders, Mickle (now Princess Augusta) to be the commander of the army, and for the enemies of Westmark to make there way back into the land in order to overthrow the monarchy in order to satisfy their greedy and selfish needs. The second book in the Westmark trilogy met my expectations and entices me to finish the series because I want to know what happens to the main characters and also what the fate of Westmark is decided to be.

Review: In the final book of the trilogy, Mickle becomes Queen of Westmark after the death of her father, King Augustine IV. Theo does not want a battle to rage within the country after the last battle he fought in, becoming a heartless young man known as The Kestrel. Cabbarus storms the castle and seizes Mickle, Queen Caroline, and Dr. Torrens but Mickle escapes with the help of some friends. Theo, Mickle, and all her advisors and friends are forced into hiding in Westmark. The book stirs up many questions and the ending is very well written. Review: "Fantastic Voyage" is a book about the how the U.S. and the Soviet Union both have developed a miniaturization process which reduces individual atoms but its value is limited. The matter will shrink for only a short period of time and then the process will reverse. A scientist, Jan Benes who lives in the Soviet Union has knowledge of an indefinite shrinking process and his life is in danger. So he decides to flee to the U.S. Instead of being killed by Soviets but an attempted assassination on his life leaves him in stable condition. It is decided that four men and woman will be shrunk and will use a miniaturized atomic sub to travel inside Benes's body to destroy a blood clot that will kill him slowly if not removed. Title: "An Old-Fashioned Girl"
Author: Louisa May Alcott

Review: "An Old-Fashioned Girl" is a book about a young girl known as Polly Milton who visits her friend, Fanny Shaw and her family in the city far away from her country life. Polly changes the lives of the Shaw family and reunites their relationships. My favorite characters are Polly, Mr. Shaw, and Mr. Shaw’s mother. Polly is a bright girl who sticks to her simple clothes and ways in order to find happiness. Although, sometimes she does give in to her girlish desires only to find nothing but regret. She makes lots of mistakes but she admits them and helps others to enjoy a simple life like her own. Mr. Shaw is another favorite, the reason is his open nature and kindness to Polly. Fanny's grandmother is not given attention by her son nor grandchildren but once Polly meets her and befriends her, her son gives her the attention a mother deserves and her grandchildren come to love her and want to listen to her childhood memories. My least favorite character would be Fanny because in my
opinion she acts like a stuck-up brat from the start of the story to the end. This novel was written for teens and tweens. The book met all my expectations and is a favorite of mine.

What other books, music, or movies did this one remind you of: "Eight Cousins," "Rose in Bloom," and "Little Women."

Title: "Way to Go"
Author: Tom Ryan

Review: "Way to Go" is a novel about a 17 year old guy named Danny. He doesn't really have his life figured out yet. Danny's best friend Jay always get bad grades in school and he doesn't seem to care. His close friend Kierce, has lots of rules for any occasion and plays hockey. One night Danny, Jay, and Kierce went to a big party together. At the party they were drinking under the age. Michelle was Danny's old girl friend and she was there and by accident, he spilled beer on her hair. Their relationship did not last long. Everyone was gossiping about Danny, even Kierce, that he might be gay and other disturbing things. So Danny and Jay left the party and went to Jay's house. Jay had to go to the bathroom, so Danny waited for him. As Danny was waiting for Jay in front of the house, a police car pulled up and saw Danny. It was Kierce's Dad! (He is a police officer). So Kierce's dad let him off and drove him back to his house because he felt Danny could handle it himself. So the next day, Danny told his Mom what happened and she was really disappointed. As the consequence, Danny had to get a job and stop doing things for fun and getting in to trouble doing them. Danny's mother knew a friend from college who just opened a restaurant and needed some help so she offered Danny a job there. So he went to work and was assigned "Head Dishwasher." He really wasn't a good dishwasher. But before the restaurant opened, he had to help paint and ready the place. The next day Chef JP and Denise came and told Danny that they were going to go and pick up things for the restaurant. By 9:00 a gorgeous tall and willowy girl with pale, freckled skin walked in. Danny was really shocked. They had coffee together and listened to music. She introduced herself. Her name is Lisa. Danny thought she was really cute. She was from New York staying with her Aunt because her mother is nuts. It is just to get away from her for the summer. So after work that day, she brought him home in "Old Bessie" her car. So Danny has been so busy at work he doesn't get to talk to his friends. So one day they came down to the restaurant to see Danny. They saw Lisa and really thought she was cute. SO Kierce asked her if she wanted to hang out with them sometime. She said sure, after work. And so they did. They went down to "the spot" which is under a bridge that no one goes on. They hung out until dark and she drove them home again. Kierce asked Lisa if she wanted to hang out another time and she said sure. Work for Danny wasn't going good. It was like a jinks was put on him because every time he finished a set of dishes, more would come. Also, he would break the dishwasher. (The machine) So Chef JP decided that he could use some help so Danny is now JP's helper. So Lisa and Kierece went out on a date toghther and Danny got really jealous. He got mad at Lisa and made Lisa stop and he got out of the car and hid for 10 minutes. Do you think Lisa is mad at Danny? Read "Way to Go" by Tom Ryan to find out.

Review: Wow, this book was AWESOME. It summed up everything in “Power of Three” and “Omen of the Stars” really well. I was a little disappointed by who the fourth cat was but I was happy because he got his time to shine again. Plus I really like the books with BIG battles in them. There were a few times when I just rolled my eyes but I really did enjoy this book.

Title: “Jack and Jill”

Review: “Jack and Jill” is about a brother and sister. The brother’s name is Jack and his sister is named Jill. One night Jack's wife told Jack to go pick up his sister from the airport so when he goes to the airport to pick up sis she is on her phone calling her Mom saying " Are you sure that Jack is going to pick me up, I do not see him and you know that I get creeped out and I do not want to stay here like a weirdo person" then Jack came behind her and said "Hey you look fat as usual." "Oh stop!" So then Jack was lifting all of Jill's stuff into the car and he said "did you really have to bring your bird Jill?" "Yes that's how I go to sleep with him and the bird said with a caw "Jack’s a poopy head." "Oh stop Poopsy!" Jack replied saying that maybe Poopsy needs some fresh air. So Jack opens the back window laughing at Poopsy! So when Jack arrives at the house and was going to the lunch table to eat food so Jack’s wife tells him to go wake up Jill to eat with us, then Jack went to Jill's bedroom to get her to eat with him and the family. Whispers softly and saying "Jill do you want to eat with us Jill?" So he heard nothing coming out of her mouth so he walked slowly and AHHHHHHHHH! "What Jill it's just me." "Oh it's just you." "Want to come down to eat something with us?" “Sure let me just take a quick shower." So when Jill got up from her bed there was a huge sweat shadow underneath Jill so Jack said "I think you forgot your shadow." "What do you mean; oh you mean that I do that a lot." Ok just wash it and then burn it OK?" "Got it.” So Jack went down stairs to wait for Jill so when she came down she was complaining that the woman was sitting in her spot you know the one right next to Jack and she made a problem about who is sitting where so instead of sitting next to Jack she sat next to Jack's son that just came from India but he is just covered in tape all over him! So Jill was talking about her childhood and one of the things she said was “Jack and I are twins so we can feel when the other one is hurt." So to prove it she smacked herself and Jack said that he did not feel anything so Jack’s son full of tape punched her and the son said to Jack "did you feel anything Daddy? He replied “I think I feel pride in my son." So Jill is on the floor and holding her jaw so Jack had to lift her up and she said "thank you dear never do that ever!”

In order to keep the horse, the boy tries to teach it how to plow and work, like a farm horse. Everything's going good and they're about to harvest their crops when a storm comes and ruins it all. Title: “Warriors- Beyond the Code”
Author: Erin Hunter

Review: This is the second book in the SkyClan Manga series. It's really good and I like the art they use in it. It's fascinating to learn about Sol and his past. I like how they show him as a nice cat instead of the evil, deceiving one in the books. The SkyClan Manga is a good series and it continues the story that was neglected for a while. I definitely think you should read it.

Title: "The Clique: A Tale of Two Pretties"
Author: Lisi Harrison

Review: This is the last book in the entire series :(. I've always liked the Clique series because it's simple and fun to read. In most of the books the plot jumps up and down and you go with it but in this one it was more straight forward, but it was also pretty emotional. It's sad because you've gone through like 13 books with these girls and now it's all over. I like this book and it does a good job of summing up the whole story.

Title: "The Hunger Games"
Author: Suzanne Collins

Review: "The Hunger Games" is a great book. Since "The Hunger Games" is such a great book I'm going to talk a little bit about it. Let me just tell you first that "The Hunger Games" is a great book though sometimes it can be a little confusing so if your getting confused you should probably need to wait a year or two to read it. Though once you understand this book it is awesome! Lots of people think this book is about blood and fighting. "The Hunger Games" is really about friendship. The reason why I liked this book so much was because it's very suspenseful. You can never put this book down. I hope you read this book and if you do enjoy!

What other books, music, or movies did this one remind you of: this book reminded me of a song by Taylor Swift called "Eyes Open."

Title: "Only the Good Spy Young"
Author: Ally Carter

Review: The book "Only the Good Spy Young" by Ally Carter met my expectations according to 5 key points:

1. Zach comes back

2. More new characters

3. Interesting plot

4. There was a sense of mystery in which I as a reader and Cameron Morgan, the main character were not aware of some things and not all my questions were answered...but..that's why there is another book after this.

5. Action and humor

You have to read every book of the series because all the books are intertwined and I could not put the book down...so make sure to the read the series when you have a whole day to waste.

So when it was time for school Fern did not want to leave Wilbur alone with Mom, Dad, and her brother she was so worried! So when she came back from school she always fed him when school ended her father said it is time to give up Wilbur because he got too big and his appetite is getting bigger!
